COLLECTORS IN ST. PETERSBURG- HERMITAGE MUSEUM, AMSTERDAM
Until 1917, St. Petersburg was one of Europe’s greatest cosmopolitan cities where many of its rich inhabitants put together large collections of art. The Hermitage Amsterdam will introduce the collections of 4 of these art collectors, with masterpieces by Murillo, Boucher, Rousseau and others.

VAN GOGH AND EXPRESSIONISM - VAN GOGH MUSEUM, AMSTERDAM
Vincent Van Gogh is seen as the most important forerunner of Expressionism. His reliance on emotion to express color and line can be found in almost all Expressionist works. The Van Gogh Museum presents this exhibition in collaboration with the Neue Galerie in New York, featuring 20 paintings by Van Gogh and 40 paintings by Expressionist artists.

THE MASTERPIECES - RIJKSMUSEUM, AMSTERDAM
Highlights of the Golden Age: wonderful dolls' houses, a treasure-trove of silver, the most beautiful Delftware, magnificent militia paintings and, of course, the famous paintings by Jan Steen, Frans Hals, Vermeer and Rembrandt. Over 400 masterpieces tell the impressive story of the political, economic and artistic wonders of the Golden Age.

THE EUROPEAN FINE ART FAIR – MECC, MAASTRICHT (TEFAF MAASTRICHT)
In March 2007, Maastricht, the oldest town in Holland, will once again host TEFAF Maastricht, the world’s most renowned art and antiques fair. NATIONAL WINDMILL DAY – THROUGHOUT HOLLAND
Holland celebrates National Windmill Day. Well over 600 windmills, water mills and pumping stations throughout the country are open to the public on this day. Millers give demonstrations of their activities in and around the mill.

HOLLAND FESTIVAL - AMSTERDAM

VONDELPARK OPEN AIR THEATER, AMSTERDAM
The Vondelpark is Amsterdam’s largest and most famous city park, located south of the Leidseplein. In the middle of the park is an open air theater, which stages all kinds of free performances, workshops, and DJs during the summer. Wednesdays are mainly child oriented, Thursdays there are salsa and tango workshops, and Fridays through Sundays you can find theater and musical performances.

AMSTERDAM ROOTS FESTIVAL- AMSTERDAM
Each summer, The Amsterdam Roots Festival presents a wide range of global music and non-western culture. AQUA MUSICA- ‘T IJ, AMSTERDAM
A nautical music festival, which takes place on and around the water of Amsterdam’s IJ at unique locations, such as the VOC ship ‘The Amsterdam.’ This year Latin-American and Spanish Baroque will be amongst the different music styles performed. The festival opens with the famous floating concert on Friday night.

CITY BEACHES, AMSTERDAM
City beaches are becoming an increasingly popular phenomenon and Amsterdam is one of the best places to find them during the hot weather. Over the summer months, there are a number of beaches open to the public around Amsterdam, such as Blijburg aan Zee, Amsterdam Plage and the newest beach Strand West.

DE PARADE- ROTTERDAM, THE HAGUE, UTRECHT AND AMSTERDAM
A nomadic theatrical event with a unique way of performing: a circus ‘turned inside out’ where the audience is placed in the center and the performers are all around them. GRAND OPENING OF STATE-OF-THE ART PUBLIC LIBRARY, AMSTERDAM
Grand opening of Amsterdam’s new Public Library, designed by architect Jo Coenen. Located on the Oosterdokseiland, next to Amsterdam’s central train station, this 300,000 square feet library will be one of Europe’s largest libraries, welcoming over 2 mln visitors each year. This modern library will accommodate an auditorium for lectures, musical- and theater performances. The design consists of energy saving elements as cold/heat ground storage to reduce the amount of non-renewable used energy.

CANAL FESTIVAL (GRACHTEN FESTIVAL) - AMSTERDAM
A summer spectacle for music lovers, filling the Amsterdam summer evenings with classical music. Large crowds of people will gather in the city center to enjoy the free classical concerts on and around the Amsterdam canals. HARTJES DAGEN (DAYS OF THE HEARTS)- ZEEDIJK,AMSTERDAM
This weekend in August, the Zeedijk neighborhood locals celebrate Hartjesdagen (Days of the Hearts). The lavish street festival dates back to the Middle Ages and is all about love songs and dance music. Highlight is the “Hartjes Parade” (Parade of the Hearts), a procession of men dressed as women and vice versa.

OUTMARKET (UITMARKT)- AMSTERDAM
The Amsterdam Uitmarkt, Out Market, traditionally opens the new cultural season. On indoor and outdoor stages at numerous locations in the city you can get a taste of the coming season’s cultural performances. These free-of-charge performances range from mime, cabaret, movies, literature, jazz to classical music.

SEVEN BRIDGES JAZZ FESTIVAL-AMSTERDAM

MASTERPIECES OF 17TH CENTURY DUTCH PORTRAITURE – MAURITSHUIS MUSEUM, THE HAGUE
This exhibition features 17th century portraits of Dutch men of standing, created by i.e. Frans Hals and Rembrandt. The exhibition gives insight into the fashion, occupations and ambitions of these affluent 17th century individuals during the Golden Age.
